Celebrating National Smile Day 2023

Today, on National Smile Day, I want to share a personal journey that has shaped me both in business and as an individual. At the young age of 18 years old, I faced the challenges of Bell’s Palsy, a condition that affected my ability to smile fully. Though it still impacts me today, 22 years later, I’ve recently begun to realise the importance of embracing my unique journey and using my experiences to empower others.

As an entrepreneur, I understand the significance of personal branding and the role that photographs play in showcasing who we are. For a long time, I’ve struggled with the idea of being photographed, knowing that my smile might not be as effortless as I wished. Still, I’ve started to realise that my journey with Bell’s Palsy is a part of me, a reminder of my resilience and determination.

Through my own experiences, I’ve learned that success as an entrepreneur goes beyond appearances. It’s about authenticity, empathy and the ability to connect with others more deeply. While my smile may not be conventional, my passion, expertise, and dedication shine through in everything I do.

As it’s National Smile Day, and I know a lot of you have already reached out to me on previous posts, I want to continue to encourage you to embrace your unique journey, whatever it may be.

Let’s break the barriers of conventional beauty standards and celebrate our individuality. Remember, it’s not the perfection of our smiles that defines us but the authenticity and passion we bring to the table.

**** Why the Picture? It’s me playing a keyboard at around 12/13 years old and the one I think of whenever I sit and wish I had my smile back.
