Love My Face – Why I Said Yes to the Show

I’ll be honest. I nearly didn’t say yes.
When the producers of Love My Face first approached me about appearing in a Channel 4 documentary on facial difference, I had one of those moments – the kind where your heart says, “This matters” but your head screams, “Do you really want the world to see you like this?”

I’ve lived with Bell’s Palsy since I was 18. One side of my face doesn’t move the same way the other does – and that used to be my biggest insecurity. I was terrified of being judged, misunderstood, or worse… pitied.
But here’s what’s changed.
I’d spent the last year stepping into something I wish I’d had when I was younger – a world where people who look different are seen, heard, and respected. Not hidden or silenced.
And it’s not just about facial difference.
It’s about how we show up in the world when we feel like we don’t fit the mould.
I built a successful, multi-award-winning business over 15 years. From the outside, I looked like I had it all together. But behind the scenes, I was battling deep depression, severe anxiety, and constantly trying to prove I was “enough.”
I wore a metaphorical mask for 20 years, all while learning to live with a physical one I never asked for.
So when the opportunity came to appear in Love My Face, something clicked.
This wasn’t just about me.
It was about every person who’s ever felt like they had to hide part of themselves to be accepted, especially in leadership.
That’s what finally pushed me to say yes. Not because I’m brave or perfect or fully healed. But because vulnerability has become my strength, and I’m learning to embrace the parts of me I used to reject.
Being part of Love My Face has been emotional, empowering, and honestly… quite surreal.
I had the privilege of sharing my story alongside some truly incredible people, including Tiwonge, whose words still sit with me weeks later. This show isn’t just about what’s “wrong” with our faces. It’s about what’s right with being human.
If you’re watching the show and wondering what I do now – well, things look a little different these days.
I left the company I co-founded to focus full-time on a mission that’s deeply personal… helping leaders prioritise their own wellbeing so they can lead without burning out or breaking down. I speak on stages, mentor business owners, and run leadership wellbeing workshops grounded in the lessons I’ve lived.
And I’ve launched a podcast called Leaders in Disguise, where successful leaders share what’s really going on behind the scenes – the stuff we rarely talk about in boardrooms or business events.
But more on that soon…
For now, if you’ve just seen me on Love My Face, thank you. Genuinely.
Thank you for seeing me. The real me.
Because finally, after years of hiding, I can say this with confidence:
I do love my face. Not in spite of everything it’s been through, but because of it.
Love My Face airs on 17th April 2025 at 10pm – with episode 2 at 11:00pm on Channel 4. It’s also available online via Channel 4 on Demand.
